We regularly receive inquiries from
across the U.S.A. asking if we can
ship our items to another state.
Yes, it is very possible, and we've
worked with many satisfied customers
in the past to ship furniture all
over the U.S.A.; however, it
can be relatively expensive.
The
difficulty with shipping fine
furniture over long distances is
ensuring that the items are
adequately protected so that there
is absolutely no damage while in
transit.
To ship
economically, the item must be
packaged in such a way as to allow it
to be shipped via common carrier.
Using common carriers means it will
typically be transferred from dock,
to truck, to central hub, to another
truck, to another hub, and then to
another truck for delivery.
To make
sure the furniture makes it to its
destination unscathed, a custom packaging
solution must be specially designed
for that particular item, many times
requiring a special wooden crate to
be built to custom specifications.
Typically, designing and building
packaging for an item will cost more
than the actual transportation
charges. For example, designing and
building a crate for a chest of
drawers may be $200 - $400, and
crating a dining table with 6 chairs
would be considerably more.
While
we do not have in-house facilities
to offer a crating or shipping
service, there are companies that
specialize in providing this type of
service. For your convenience, we
have listed a few delivery companies
below with which you might inquire.
This list is by no means exhaustive
and we do not personally endorse any
one delivery service. We do
recommend that you contact more than
one company for a comparison of
estimates, insurance coverage, etc.,
and confirm that their estimate is
for crating AND shipping.
